Eyelet Star Stitch
Eyelet Star Stitch is a hand embroidery technique from the Straight Stitch family, where straight stitches are positioned around the central point to form a star shape.
This embroidery stitch is straightforward to make and is also highly flexible. The shape of the Eyelet Star can vary from round to oval or irregular. Also, the number of spokes can be odd or even and vary in number from star to star.
Other names of the stitch
This simple hand embroidery stitch also comes under the names of Star Eyelet stitch, Spoke stitch, or Ray stitch.
Applications of the Eyelet Star Stitch
This simple hand embroidery stitch can be used as a detached decorative stitch, as a part of complex designs or stitches, or as a filling stitch.
You can use Star Eyelets in traditional designs, modern surface embroidery, crazy quilting, and other textile and needlework projects.
Besides decorative purposes, this embroidery technique is handy in mending projects. You can cover small holes or stains and add visual interest to the garment with Eyelet Star Stitch.
