Triangular Feather Stitch
Triangular Feather Stitch is a decorative variation of the Feather Stitch. This technique combines classical Feather Stitch with a Closed Feather Stitch to create a decorative band.
This stitch might look complex, but it’s rather easy to make, once you get into the rhythm of stitching and remember the stitch sequence.

Triangular Feather Stitch creates a decorative band you can use in various textile projects – from embellishing garments and home textiles to crazy quilting projects. You can also combine this technique with beads or detached decorative stitches to create complex embroidered borders.

How to embroider Triangular Feather Stitch
Step-by-step hand embroidery tutorial
1. Start with a Feather Stitch. Make a stitch and leave the working thread loop open.
2. Create the first V stitch.
3. Then, add the second one below it, to the left.
4. Now, instead of making two V stitches to the right, make a closed Feather Stitch. Push the needle to the right side of the first stitch, and leave the loop of the working thread open.
5. Then get the needle back up below the second stitch, inside the working thread’s loop. Pull to close the stitch. It will create a triangle on the right side of the band.
6. From here, repeat the sequence. Make the first V stitch.
7. Then, add a second one below it.
8. Finally, add a closed Feather Stitch to form a triangle on the right.
9. After the entire bar is stitched, anchor the last stitch and secure the thread on the back.
